Yes. START is designed for new and early-stage tax professionals. You'll get the software, training, onboarding, and startup guidance to begin the right way. Just keep in mind you'll need to satisfy IRS requirements — such as a PTIN — to prepare returns for compensation.
What is the difference between START and GROW?+
START ($897) is for new and early-stage tax professionals — software, training, onboarding, and foundational resources to start correctly. GROW ($1,497) is for established professionals, EROs, and entrepreneurs — it includes everything in START plus advanced business training, multi-office growth, preparer recruiting and onboarding, client acquisition, advanced marketing, campaign templates, priority support, and business growth consultation.
Do I need a PTIN?+
Yes. If you prepare federal tax returns for compensation, the IRS requires you to hold a valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). It's obtained directly through the IRS.
Do I need an EFIN?+
Yes, for e-filing. To electronically file tax returns, you need an Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) issued by the IRS. If you don't plan to e-file, an EFIN isn't required.
Can D-Tax Pros help me with PTIN and EFIN setup?+
Yes — we provide guidance on the requirements and the application process so you can work toward compliance. PTINs and EFINs are issued and approved by the IRS, so final approval is at the IRS's discretion.
Is support included?+
Yes. START includes ongoing software support. GROW adds priority support plus direct business growth consultation, so you're never figuring it out alone.
Can I schedule a demo before purchasing?+
